Instill’s mission is to transform teaching, learning and leadership in every classroom on the African continent. We believe that the greatest levers for change in the education system are teachers and school leaders. We have recently been accredited as a higher education institution in South Africa, and seek to build a team that will change the face of teacher education across the continent. We’re looking for a Head of Growth/Growth Hacker to join our small and growing team to ensure the success of our first cohorts of student-teachers as well as the growth of our digital platform.

What does role entail?

As our Head of Growth/Growth Hacker, you will be responsible experimenting to identify the most effective ways to drive and scale user acquisition and engagement strategies to build our teacher community: 


  • Developing a growth strategy to grow our digital professional development product’s  (Upskill) top-line metrics including activations, MRR and engagement/retention
  • Developing a launch strategy to acquire and grow applicants to our private higher education institution 
  • Leading, developing, and creating a culture of rigorous testing and experimentation to innovate on how we drive business growth, acquisition, user engagement, churn reductions.
  • Using data, analytics, and other tools to inform decisions and growth strategies.
  • Ensuring that resources inside and outside the business improve growth.
  • Reporting on initiatives and projects to management and founders.
  • Replicating successful strategies at scale and in new markets.
  • Work with our digital agency to ensure brand consistency across all channels


Selection Criteria:

  • A bachelor's degree in  strategy, business management, marketing or similar.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a related role and ideally in the startup space.
  • A portfolio of successful growth implementations and interventions.
  • Expertise in online strategies, user experience, and business development.
  • Strong analytical skills, including A/B testing, web metrics, and sales metrics.
  • Skilled at web optimization, sales generation, conversion analysis, and creating sales funnels.
  • Knowledge of various growth-hacking tools, such as automation and campaign monitoring platforms.
  • Creative, problem-solving, and results-driven mindset.
  • An adaptable, iterative thinker who is constantly learning.
  • Curious, innovative, and confident in your abilities to drive change.
